![]() Again, this is probably meant to be funny again. Other plotlines often get ridiculous explanations. It still drags on far too long, the plot overreaches and without spoiling anything: the most important plotline does not get explained. I endured and yes it does become good after that. That's about 7-8 hours of repeating something that's not very interesting in the first place. but you'll have to finish the game (and repeat a LOT) 14 times to get there. The good news is that the story does get interesting. I expected to find it funny as well but the humor of it just goes above my head I think. After I finished the whole game I saw videos of people playing through it and apparently everyone finds it hilarious. The thing is, apparently it's supposed to be funny. If I knew this was going to be a more tradition VN rather than a quick joke I might not have played it all the way through.ĥ0% PCIt's very difficult to put a rating on this as this game is for a very niche crowd. There's some decent characterization and setups, but the pacing and payoff is iffy at best. Maybe I'm missing the tone and this is also supposed to be humorous or something but I didn't get it. Characters act in absurdly ridiculous ways to justify conflict. The conclusions were cliched and filled with coincidence after coincidence, which are such a let down in a story that keeps teasing big reveals. Once I did, the mystery was enough to keep me playing, but it dragged on. The second half is main draw I think, but the joke was already wearing thin before I got there. It's something that I've had a hard time grasping why I don't like and it applies to way more than this game, but I felt it here again. It both overexplains and under develops ideas and plot points. With lots of anime games the style of writing is so weird, in a bad way. I don't know if it's a translation issue or what but the prose is very clunky and unimaginative. The writing is just so-unpleasant to read. This is all good, but I think a large disconnect I have is visual novels as a format in general. It goes beyond a gimmick and tries to shift the focus of the game from dating pigeons to something more investigative and visceral. Without spoiling anything, the twist is good. I knew the game was building to something so I kept playing, waiting for the inevitable twists. Maybe its a personal thing but I rarely thought any of the game, beyond the wacky premise, was all that humorous. Putting aside the characters for a second, I didn't find the humor-funny. ![]() Before the true ending, the loops largely serve as character introductions, and as ways to dish up humor. So the heavy lifting is entirely on the writing, which isn't good in my opinion. Just pick options to spend time with x character. It's a purist visual novel with very little interaction, to get the multiple endings its extremely obvious what you need to choose. The problem is it isn't until you get there that it starts getting interesting. So the big *thing* with this game is that you have to beat it a bunch before you can start the *true* ending. 40% PCA visual novel with a funny premise, an expected and cliché dark twist, and some very mediocre execution. ![]()
